The Saints breeze past the Patriots.
Drew Brees threw five touchdown passes in a near-perfect outing and the undefeated New Orleans Saints routed New England 38-17 in a National Football League showdown.
Brees completed 18-of-23 passes for 371 yards and now has 27 touchdowns on the season as the Saints, once the league laughingstock, improved to 11-0 to match the Indianapolis Colts as the only unbeaten clubs with five games to go.
“It was magnificent,” Saints coach Sean Payton said of Brees’ performance. “He was outstanding. I thought he was special. Let’s just say he’s playing real well. His locations, confidence, what we were seeing, it was special by him.”
This is the first time in NFL history that two teams have gone unbeaten so deeply into the season. The Colts reached 11-0 on Sunday with a 35-27 victory at Houston.
